Freefall.
I could sure use a net. A cushion would suffice. I could just use a teenie bit of space between the now and then. Some elbow room to move and maybe even be able to lay back and relax. Sadly for me, this doesn't seem as though it's gonna' be happening. Not soon anyway. Still, I am ever the optimist always keeping an eye out for a miracle or two. What else I have to do besides sit and wait. Oh. Yeah. Stress. There seem to be a whole lot of British SF shows that I like and many more that I want to see. Sadly they usually only last for a season or two and those seasons can be as short as six episodes which really makes them to my mind far more like cool extended movies than a television series. It really is too bad. So many great ideas, concepts and actors all created and then tossed out. Lucky are the few like Doctor Who, Star Trek, Star Wars, Holmes, Tarzan and Bond that get to have a life beyond one series, one film or book or comic, strip, toy, game etc. I have to believe that it is the fan involvement that makes all the difference. Fans keep concepts and characters alive in a far, far greater way than any studio ever could. Once the characters start to come alive inside the heads of the fans, once they start living adventures never dreamt of by the original creators, that's when the characters become iconic. I see other creators moaning about the idea of people creating fanfic of their characters and I wanna' smack them. Do they realize how fortunate they are to have fans that are that into their work, that involved? Apparently not because they piss on what I dream of. Can we say arrogant morons? Well, I can.
I know, I know. The topic of fanfic is up for wild debate among creators of fiction. To me the issue is clear. Do you want fans or not? Take it from someone who has always worked beneath the radar and most likely always will. You don't know how lucky you are.
Man, I feel tight. I can't seem to relax. Too much to think about and little I can actually do. A frustrating combo. What I want is to have a hot cup of coffee, to be warm and to have nothing to think about. Nadda. Zip. Doesn't really seem like too much to ask for but apparently it is. For me. Aw, beans.
