Living in a Sci-Fi world.
We sure live in an odd world. The Olympics, the Democrat National Convention, The Dark Knight ruling the box office this summer. It's all so odd and filled with such drama. I hate drama. I detest it. I prefer science fiction which I truly believe is far more "real" than the so-called dramas we see all around us. Look at this world we live in and tell me it isn't strange. The Middle East is one never-ending, global wedgie fight. Russia has decided that it's all tough and evil again. The American dollar looks like Canada's and everyone wants the Euro rather than the good old green back. Movies cost ten bucks per and comics books almost five. Gas is through the roof and food is quickly becoming a luxury only for the rich. It seems that everyone is getting fatter and fatter owns the latest techno-gadget, cell phones, flat screen TVs, cameras and I-Pods and yet no one can afford the price of gas or make their house payments. Odd? Yes. These things just don't fit together. What are we doing? What are we spending our money on? People say they're poor, but they're not. Are they? What is it that I don't understand?
If the world is gonna' be this odd shouldn't we at least get air-driven hover cars? We're well past 2000 and instead of cool hover cars all we got was mini phones that can check email. That kinda' sucks.
How in the world can comic books compete when the real world is so fantastic and video games pull people into virtual lives?
Thankfully, books are still cool. (To me.) I think I must really belong in a time long, long past. Naturally, somewhere along the way I missed the bus. I'm always doing that.
