Warner, DC Rethinking Film Strategy
A big shake-up could be in the works at Warner Brothers for its DC Comics film properties, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
In the course of the past couple of weeks, Warner Brothers Pictures Group president Jeff Robinov and Warner president Kevin McCormick have been meeting with DC Comics executives, as well as some of DC's top talents, like Jim Lee, to discuss a new direction for film adaptations.
Up until now, the comic properties had been undergoing a hodge-podge development process. With the recent success of Marvel Studios' Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk and that company's plan to develop its many characters linked strategically together, Warner has been forced to take a close second look at its sister company.
With The Dark Knight near its release date, a new agenda is being set, one that sees the DC characters emerge with a higher priority and developed with an overarching goal in mind.
Hummm ... Ya' think?! Of course it's time for DC Comics to re-think their terrible handling of massively well-known characters. I'm thinking ... I don't know. Maybe a little respect for their cash cows as opposed to shame. Just something for them to consider. Marvel is waaay ahead of the game here and DC will have to hustle some tail to catch up.
Anyway ... About me!
I am so gonna' screw up this weekend. I have a particular talent for screwing things up. As it stands I've invited to BBQs, cookouts (there's a difference?), movies, dinner and art shows. The question is balancing all these overlapping "things" without getting myself in any hot water. Now, in the past I've always managed to take a full schedule like this and find a way to turn it into nothing. I mean, nothing. It all somehow falls through because I'm trying to be available to everyone who wants to suffer through time spent with me. (sad, sorry people) I'm not even off work today and I've already seen plans that were all set and clean become a massive mess. At this point I'm thinking that I'll get NO free food. That really sucks.
I NEED to get a new computer. I am losing a LOT of time messing with the old one. (The puppy is dead, Mark. Deal with it!) I'm thinking that I need to beg and nag another desk top for myself. Those seem much more readily available and that's where I'd use it the most anyway. With a decent thumb drive it should be fine. Then at least I'd be able to get some work done instead of watching the calendar turn.
Fingers crossed for me that I git fed.
